Dental manufacturers carry out lost wax casting on a daily basis in order to produce crowns and bridges and complete denture sets ordered by dentists.

This application is a very sophisticated use of the lost wax process because false teeth are high precision pieces in terms of dimensions and configuration. These metal cast pieces which are simply polished, must be a faithful replica of the patient's jaws and must fit with less than +/-0,1 mm of give.

The process of making a set of false teeth is as follows : a strong plaster mix is poured onto the negative prints of the half jaws of the patient's mouth given by the dentist, to obtain the positive pattern of the jaws. The wax denture will be sculpted based on this model. After that, a block-mould type investment is poured around the wax. This mould will be used for the casting of the metal.

Therefore, it is clear that prosthesists require, on the one hand, very hard plasters for the patterns, with optimal duplication ability, and on the other hand, investments to make the lost wax casting moulds.

In the field of dentistry, the cast alloys are always either precious alloys of gold and/or palladium, or non precious alloys based on nickel, cobalt or titanium.

The casting temperatures are between 1000/1100°C for precious and 1400/1800°C for non precious alloys. This is why most of the invesments used are "phosphatic bounded investments" which can resist to such high temperatures.

Dental plasters

A range of high strengh and excellent duplication capacity plasters for dental manufacturers, dentists and orthodontists :

  • HYDRAQUATRE : Class IV plaster for dies.
  • HYDRATROIS : Class III plaster for skeletons.
  • HYDRANEIGE : orthodontic plastes.

Dental investments

A range of phosphatic investments with the corresponding expansion liquid :

  • STOCKVEST : standard phosphatic investment.
  • REVEST : quick heating investment.
  • TIVEST : titanium skeletons investment.
